GLC | Precision Evaporation Solution for Glass Optical Lenses

Glass Lens CoaterPrecision Evaporation for Optical Lenses

A Dedicated Evaporation Platform Built for Precision Optical Lenses

Optical lenses are the core component of every imaging system — from cameras and automotive lenses to surveillance and industrial inspection. Lens imaging quality directly determines the competitiveness of the end product. Yet optical lenses demand far more from thin films than ordinary coatings: uniformity, adhesion, environmental durability, and multilayer stacking precision must all be held to exacting standards.

The Dah Young Vacuum GLC (Glass Lens Coater) is a dedicated equipment platform built upon decades of evaporation expertise and optimized specifically for glass optical lens applications. The GLC integrates Dah Young's in-house high-performance ion source, proprietary Optical Monitoring System (OMS), and planetary rotation fixtures — delivering a stable and reliable production-grade evaporation solution for camera lenses, automotive optics, precision imaging, and other high-end applications.

In-house IAD Ion-Assisted System | Dense, Durable Optical Films

Conventional evaporated films often suffer from spectral drift and adhesion degradation when handling complex multilayer optics — a result of film stress and environmental temperature/humidity variations. Every GLC system comes standard-equipped with Dah Young's in-house 18cm / 24cm / 27cm high-performance ion source, enabling simultaneous Ion-Assisted Deposition (IAD) throughout the evaporation process.

Through energetic ion bombardment, evaporated atoms gain higher mobility on the substrate surface, resulting in denser film structure and significantly enhanced adhesion. Even under low-temperature process conditions, the GLC produces optical films with excellent environmental stability and mechanical strength — passing rigorous automotive-grade reliability tests including high-temperature/humidity, salt spray, and abrasion resistance.

Dah Young Proprietary OMS | Multilayer Thickness Hits Design Spec Precisely

Optical lens applications routinely require broadband anti-reflection (BBAR) coatings, multi-band cut-off filters, and similar high-end film stacks containing dozens or even hundreds of layers. Any thickness error in any single layer is amplified through the stack, directly affecting final spectral performance. The GLC is equipped with Dah Young's proprietary Optical Monitoring System (OMS), which uses real-time spectral detection to precisely control the deposition state of every layer.

The OMS integrates seamlessly with the equipment control system, providing millisecond-level correction capability that effectively addresses thickness drift over long process runs. This precision monitoring lets the GLC deliver multilayer optical spectra that closely match design targets — significantly improving yield and batch-to-batch consistency.

Planetary Rotation Fixture | Tailored to Lens Curvature and Volume Production

Optical lenses are typically spherical or aspherical, and surface coating uniformity is critical to imaging quality. The GLC employs a planetary rotation fixture design paired with Dah Young's proprietary FAST (Film-thickness Accurate Simulation Tool) coating uniformity simulator. Fixture configurations are customized to match lens curvature and dimensions, ensuring thickness uniformity within ±1% across large-area batch coating.

From R&D prototyping to mass production, the GLC offers chamber sizes of 1100, 1350, 1550, and 1800 — helping customers optimize equipment investment and capacity planning at every stage of development.
